TinyFingers Rescue
A puzzle for small children. The rescue vehicle is stuck in a jam, and the child frees it by moving the other vehicles out of the way.
Coming Ask about Rescue
TinyFingers Rescue is in development. This page describes what it is built to do. It is not out yet, and there is no release date.
What it is
It is made for children from about three years up, with no upper age. A rescue vehicle, a fire truck or an ambulance for example, is stuck in a jam. The child slides the other vehicles out of its way, and when the road is clear the vehicle drives off to its call: the fire truck puts out a small fire, the ambulance drives to the hospital. Nobody is ever in danger.
The boards start small: 4×4, solved in a single move. They grow to 6×6, and the number of moves they need grows with them, so a child who is ready for more finds more.
How it is built to work
- The adult sets the session. In the adults’ menu an adult chooses the board size and the range of moves. The game can also follow the child, stepping up and down inside the range the adult set.
- Nothing judges the child. No stars, scores, move counters or timers. A move that is not possible bounces back gently.
- Help that shows, not tells. After a pause without a move, the vehicle to move next glows, and then a ghost arrow shows. Adults can switch the hints off.
- No numbers or text for the child. The child’s screens have big icon buttons and no numbers. The numbers are in the adults’ menu.
- Dedicated-device mode. As in TinyFingers Paint Early Years, for a device that is left out in the open: the Adults button can be hidden and a PIN set.
- 19 languages. The adults’ menu is in 19 languages.
- No data collected. It is designed to make no network connections and to have no accounts, no ads and no SDKs. Only the adults’ settings and the progress through the boards stay on the device.
