What your organisation gets

What your organisation gets is a private build of the Early Years edition, made for its own devices. It is not the public store listing of the app for individuals. Apple School Manager, Managed Google Play and Intune are only the ways the build reaches your devices.

iPad

TinyFingers Early Years is delivered to iPads as a custom app for your organisation’s Apple School Manager Organization ID. Once it is visible in your Apple School Manager, you distribute it through your device management (MDM).

Android

It is published as a private app in Managed Google Play for your organisation ID, so only your organisation can find and install it.

Windows

It is an MSIX package. You add it in Intune as a Windows line-of-business app and assign it to your devices.

Locking the device to the app

Children stay in the app only if the device is locked to it. Each platform has its own lock, and the app helps to set it up from its Adults menu.

• iPad Guided Access. The Lock Assistant in the Adults menu helps to set it up and to start it every time the app opens. The single app mode of your MDM works too.
• Android Screen pinning. App pinning must first be switched on in Android’s settings, by an adult or through your device management. The app then offers to pin itself to the screen when an adult taps Lock device, and Home, Back and other apps are out of reach until an adult unpins it. In Android’s settings you can require the PIN to unpin.
• Windows The app fills the screen and blocks the Windows key, Alt+Tab and Alt+F4 until an adult unlocks it. Ctrl+Alt+Del still works. To lock the whole device to the app, use Windows Assigned Access.

What we need from you

• iPad Your Apple School Manager Organization ID, and the device management (MDM) you use.
• Android Your organisation ID for Managed Google Play.
• Windows That you install MSIX packages with Intune, and anything your ICT team requires of the package signing.
